Eldar Saparayev

Biography

Eldar Saparayev is a Kazakh-German cellist and conductor whom Jacques Leiser, the artist manager of Maria Calls, described as “Eldar is not only a virtuoso in the grand style of past eras, but he is also a true musician and poet, who plays with great passion and individuality.

Mr. Saparayev‘s multifaceted interests have taken him around the world as a conductor, soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He is a member of numerous foundations around the world and artistic director of Klassik Konstanz foundation and concert series in Germany.

• As a Soloist as well as a principal cellist he collaborates with the Bayerischen Staatsoper under Peter Eötvös and Kent Nagano, Zurich Kammer Orchestra under the button of Sir Roger Norrington and Krzysztof Penderecki, Camerata Zurich with Marc Kissóczy, Malysian Philharmonic Orchestra under Claus Peter Flor, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz under Heinrich Schiff, Reinhard Goebel and Thomas Kalb, MAV Orchestra Budapest, Nordbömische Philharmonie, Astana Operahouse Orchestra, Kazakh National Philharmonic Orchestra as a Cellist and conductor, New European Strings, under Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Lucerne Festival Strings under the button of Bernard Haitink.

Eldar has performed as chamber musician at many important venues across Europe, Asia, South and North Americas and collaborated with notable artists such as Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Radu Lupu, Alena Baeva, Eldar Nebolsin, Thomas Werner Mifune, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dimitri Ashkenazy, Heinrich Schiff, Bobby McFerrin, David Geringas, Juliana Avdeeva, Bartek Niziol, Kolya Blacher and other.

He performed at the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles where he played Variations on a Rococo Theme from Tchaikovsky (in the place of eminent American cellist Lynn Harrell).
At Carnegie Hall, New York, in Vienna Musikverein, Smetana Hall in Praha, Tonhalle Zürich, United Nations Headquarters NY.
Mr. Saparayev recorded Don Quixote by Richard Strauss with the Heinrich Schiff as a Conductor, Haydn C-Dur concert under the button of Reinhard Goebel, Saint-Saens Cello Concerto e-minor with the Abzal Mukhitdinov, Rococo Variations by Tschaikovsky with Eduard Schmieder, Dvorak Cello Concerto with Florian Ludwig.

Eldar Saparayev is a Professor of Kazakh National University of the Art.
He has a Position as a Docent at the Art Academy of Split in Croatia.
He is giving Masterclasses at the Seoul International Sommer Music Camp Korea, GMP Masterclasses at the Manhattan School NY, Zagreb Academy of the Art. Next year will be giving a masterclasses also on MUC Wien and International Menuhin Academy.

He is a President of Jury of Antonio Janigro Young Competition.

• Eldar Saparayev plays on the 1679 “Bein, Beare” cello made by Nicolò Amati as well on Antonius and Hieronymous Amati 1628 kindly offered by the privat foundation in Switzerland.
